Requiem. These landscape photographs were taken

entirely in Nebraska, mostly in the 1970s and 80s, although a

couple are as recent as 2004.  I put them together in a series

that I called "Requiem" in 2007. A requiem, of course, is a mass

for the dead. I use the term loosely, with no reference to its

religious (Catholic) meaning, but yet retaining its sense of

something lost.  More specifically, I'm thinking of the term in

the context of global climate change and the long-range effect

that will have on the land. You may notice that the sequence of

images in this series goes from water to fire.
